At last we have the full list of MPs expenses and who has paid and who has not. I am very happy to see that our own Tobias Ellwood was asked to pay back around £900.00 and this he has done. I am sure there have been some really fraudulent claims and I sincerely hope that whoever has been dishonest has to pay for it through the Courts, regardless of who it might be. Whilst this has been a useful exercise and has cleared up a system that was not only inefficient but also wrong it has unfortunately tarred all MP's with the same brush. This is just not fair as the majority of MP's are dedicated and hard working.
I am now hoping that there will be an investigation into the excessive bonuses paid to senior Civil Servants in the House of Commons, also answers to the questions why do Senior Civil Servants get bonuses? Why does Gordon Brown need so many Quangos? The number of staff employed by them has risen, over the last three years, from 92,500 to 110,000 and the cost has risen from £37billion to £46billion. If even half of them were disbanded it would go a very long way to paying off the immense National Debt.
