Moordown 2010 Committee, Bi Centenary celebrations

Tonight the Moordown 2010 Committee finalised their programme of events in celebration of the Bi Centenary celebrations. Through out the discussions the theme was always Community. Moordown is a close knit Community but perhaps it needs to loosen up a little bit and meet the neighbours. Most of our celebrations are children orientated but we have a good selection running right through the year. These include a design competition for a logo for Moordown, a short story and poetry competition for children and adults alike, a Bar B Que fete, a photo competition, and later in the year, a 'Moordown' antique Flog it event and a Moordown exclusive 'Question time' plus smaller events like a cream tea with a speaker on Moordown.
We are also hoping to finish the Brassey Road Memorial Garden, with a plaque to the Pilot and crewmen that died when a Halifax bomber crashed in the region of St John's Mews. We will also be remembering the Moordown residents that died as a result of the crash..
