Tuesday 2nd February 2010.

Into the 2nd month of the new decade already, how quickly the time is going.

Planning Applications
Today I learnt that the application for the change of usage of No. 723 Wimborne Road will go before the Planning Board on Monday 15th of Feb. If you have any queries please contact me, sue.anderson@bournemouth.gov.uk .

Malvern Road Crossing
We are very pleased to report that we have been granted a pedestrian crossing in Malvern Road. We Councillors have been trying for the past three years to get this and it should be up and running by April/May, just in time for the better weather and an increase in usage of the playground. We are sure this will be welcomed by people from all over Moordown who use and have to cross that busy road.

2010 Celebrations in Moordown
A Committee has been formed to co-ordinate our celebrations and these will include some quite unusual events. We like to think that they will be enjoyable, unique in the Borough and that we will have a good Community involvement. More about that later, however, if you would like to help on the Committee we would be delighted. Please contact : sue.anderson@bournemouth.gov.uk

Moordown in Bloom
It has long been a wish of ours to have some sort of floral display in the High Street and for residents to compete in the main Bournemouth in Bloom competition. We have seen some really pretty gardens in our wanderings around the Ward and some lovely hanging baskets as well. This year we would like everyone to make that little bit of extra effort especially for the Bi-Centenary Celebrations. The Bowling Club has won awards in the last couple of years and we are sure the rest of the Village can too.

Anecdotes, Memories and Photos of Moordown
We are trying to build up a collection of the above to, eventually, get a small volume of the History of Moordown printed. Moordown has a rich past, being one of the oldest continually inhabited areas in Bournemouth, and we would love to hear any stories you have.
